How to Make Flan Cake

Flan cake recipe

Making a flan cake is not that difficult as it looks. Though the procedure is quite long, all you need to do is follow them religiously and you will end up successfully in making one of your own. Good luck!

·                                 240 ml brown sugar

·                                 15 ml softened unsalted butter

·                                 8 pieces of eggs

·                                 240 ml sugar

·                                 24 ounce evaporated milk

·                                 5 ml pure vanilla extract

·                                 5 ml pure almond extract

Preparing the flan cake:

  1. Gather all the needed materials and ingredients. Measure the necessary ingredients according to the above recipe.
  2. Before starting the cooking process, ready first your oven. Preheat your oven setting it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Position then your bakining rack at the center area of the oven which can facilitate even cooking of the flan cake.
  3. Start with preparing the caramel.  Obtain a medium sized sauce pan. Place the sauce pan over the stove and heat it setting at medium heat. Once the sauce pan has heated, pour the sugar and butter. Stir the preparation continuously as the butter and sugar melts and ends up mixing together.
  4. Pour then the melted sugar and butter unto the bottom part of the baking pan. Leave it for awhile.
  5. Get your large mixing bowl. Proceed with beating the eggs. You may use an electric mixer, if you have, setting it at high speed for around 30 seconds.
  6. Add then all the liquid ingredients specifically the evaporated milk, sugar, almond extracts and vanilla. Do this slowly and carefully. Then again, set your electric mixer on high speed and beat for around 30 to 45 seconds or until a smooth consistency has been achieved. Make sure that all the ingredients are fully mixed up together.
  7. Once all the ingredients have been mixed up, get the baking pan that you’ve set aside earlier. Pour then the preparation you’ve made unto the baking pan with the caramel. Do this slowly so as not to disturb the caramel. If the caramel is slightly disturbed, it is ok because the batter will just mingle with the caramel. Set it aside.
  8. Now, move on with the preparation of your water bath. Get the shallow roasting pan and pour cool water unto it. Pplace then the baking pan with your flan cake into the roating pan. See to it that the water should surround the baking pan in all sides. The water should be up to ¾ on its sides. This will ensure even baking and prevention of scorching in the bottom part.
  9. Place then the flan cake inside the oven and bake. Leave it there for around 40 to 50 minutes or until fully cooked. To test if its cook, insert a toothpick unto the cake and if the toothpick comes out clean, then its cooked. However if some particles sticks in the toothpick then it is still raw.
  10. Once its cooked, remove it from the oven being careful not to burn your hands. Sprinkle it then with a liberal amount of brown sugar. Do this while your cake is still hot so that the brown sugar will melt. Leave it aside to let it cool down.
  11.  Once its cool enough to handle, get a large platter and place it over the baking pan. Carefully but quickly turn the pan upside down so that the flan cake will unmold unto the platter. See to it that the platter is large enough to accommodate the flan cake because the caramel will ooze and it might spill if the plate is not large enough.
  12. Serve and enjoy.
