HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY WINE
Bored with only serving red and white wine during a party? Spice up your bar by serving a unique and tasty strawberry wine. You can buy it in the store nearby or make it yourself. It is cheaper and easy to prepare. The twist is you need to have patience because it will take you a year to make a perfect and irresistible wine. However, put in mind that the wine you made yourself will not only satisfy your palette but also your self esteem.
This recipe is good for 2 galloons of wine or 40 servings. If you want to make more, you can just adjust the measurements of the ingredients.
Ingredients:
· 3kgs whole strawberry
· 2 galloons water
· 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice
· 2.27 kg of sugar
Materials:
· Mixing bowl
· Large jar or casserole- can be used for boiling 2 galloons of water
· Spatula (used for mixing)
· Strainer or cheese cloth
· Cloth that can cover the casserole
· Cork – for large and small bottles
· Large bottle- can store to two gallons, preferably glass
· Small bottles- for individual wine storage
Steps in making the strawberry wine:
1. Gather all the necessary materials and ingredients.
2. Boil 5 galloons of water in the large casserole.
3. While waiting for your water to boil, you can now start with your strawberries. Choose a freshly picked strawberry. Discard all the rotten one. If you are using a frozen strawberry, thaw them first. Wash them carefully.
4. Slice the strawberry in small pieces and place them in the mixing bowl. Mash to further reduce the size.
5. Immerse fully the strawberries in the boiling water.
6. Add 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice and stir quickly for two minutes.
7. Remove the casserole from the stove and cover it with a cloth. Place it in a storage area, where it is dark and cool, for one week.
8. Make sure to stir the preparation once a day for one week.
9. After a week, strain the preparation using a strainer or a double layered cheese cloth. Carefully remove and discard all the pulp.
10. Mix the strawberry juice and sugar. Stir the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved.
11. Let it sit for one week again and still stir it every day for the whole week.
12. Pour the juice in the large bottle. Cover it loosely with your cork. Set it aside in a cool and poorly lighted area for 3 months.
13. After 3 months, if the juice turns clear and the bubbles gone, these signal that it is ready to be transferred to individual small bottles.
14. Transfer it to small bottles and cork them tightly. Let it age for a year. This span of time assures a delicious and tasty strawberry wine.
Strawberry wine can be prepared in a variety of mixtures. You can vary its degree of sweetness depending on your own preference by adjusting the amount of sugar you will add.
